Greetings from Crowdsource! We would like to invite you to participate in an exciting campaign, planned exclusively for Africa and India (selected languages only). Read on for more details..

The Google Speech team builds platforms and technology to support products that you can talk to, that can seamlessly understand you, and can talk back in the most natural manner. We are thrilled to announce Vocalize, a campaign designed to help you contribute to this effort and represent your language in AI! This is an opportunity for you to share your voice recordings to improve speech machine learning technology for users everywhere through the new Audio Donation task on Crowdsource! Who can participate?

• Android users (since this task is available only on the Crowdsource app on the Play Store)

• Anyone who speaks the following languages–

• [Africa] Akan, Hausa, Igbo, Kinyarwanda, Sesotho, Shona, Somali, Wolof, Yoruba

• [India] Assamese, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Tamil, Telugu 

• Anyone who is at least 18 years of age.

 

How to participate?

• Sign up for the campaign by filling this form – goo.gle/cs-vocalize - by Nov 30, 2021

• You will be asked to select your language/s and a preferred team color. Depending on the color that you select, you will become a part of one of the four teams: Blue, Green, Red and Yellow (You will be grouped with other participants, across the two regions, who made the same selection as you) – After a fun and friendly competition of contributing to the Audio Donation task, one group will emerge as the winner!

• Contribute to the Audio Donation task on the Crowdsource app across a period of 2 months (Nov 15, 2021 to Jan 14, 2022); participate in campaign meet-ups and other activities

 

Special surprise!

• Members of the top contributing group (out of the 4 cross-regional teams) and individual top contributors within each language will receive a curation of exciting goodies! (Note: To be eligible for this, participants must make at least 250 quality contributions to the Audio Donation task)
